December 2005 Update from
Mt. Olive to Living Hope
On December 10, Mt. Olive hosted
its 5th annual “Parent’s Day Out/Christmas for Kids” event. The program was originally designed as an
outreach tool. The day offers an opportunity
for children to learn about Jesus while having fun, playing with old friends
and making new friends. While the
children are busy, parents have a chance to shop, decorate, bake or just sit
back and relax.
This year’s theme was “Happy
Birthday Jesus.” The day included a
bible lesson, lunch, crafts, games and a puppet show. The four hour event was open to children
from both member and non-member families, aged 3 to 11. Fifty-nine children pre-registered, with
fifty-five in attendance. Over fifty-five percent of the children
registered came from non-member families.
Planning and carrying out
this event requires a number of willing volunteers and good organization. If the members of Living Hope are ever
interested in having an event like this, we would be happy to share our files
and information. Just let us know! We have learned a lot in the 5 years we have
had this event.
We pray that all the members
of Living Hope have a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year. May God bless your congregation through this
year, and 2006!
In Christ,
The Members of Mt. Olive
Lutheran Church
